Even though Captain Phillips’ Barkhad Abdi did not have the luck to grab the Oscar trophy for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, he really did a fantastic job portraying his role as a Somalian pirate. Working closely with Tom Hanks, who played out Captain Phillips, both learned so much from each other. Being a Somalian local, Abdi reveals his battle with his family from staying in the country and greatly affected by the turmoil.
According to an interview from Parade, Abdi feels very grateful for working in the entertainment business as an actor in Hollywood to grab acting jobs. The 29-year-old Somalian director-and-actor has series of acting opportunities in store for him.
In the recent month, he obtained the BAFTA award for Best Supporting Actor. When he came back from London, he was questioned by respective authorities for minor offenses. He will only need to attend some proceedings, rather than what people overstated as the actor’s “deportation”.
